SOLAR FOR SCHOOLS

The Mississippi Solar for Schools Program is a state-sponsored program allows MS school districts to install solar panels on their school grounds with no upfront costs and no risk.

Here's how it works:

1. Interested school districts will need to engage a solar developer/expert to identify space      suitable to install solar.
2. The school district will sign an agreement with a third-party solar owner who will cover all      capital costs to design, install, and maintain state-of-the-art solar energy systems.
3. The energy generated by the solar array will be sold to the utility under a 25-year contract. The      revenue is split between the school district and the solar owner (paid monthly).

There is no capital cost to the School District.

While the final program details are being finalized by the state, we would advise you to get a head start now in order to meet any time restrictions which might be imposed.
